A reproduction of a double-breasted coat first seen in 1925 timebooks and magazine advertisements. Later-era references are rare, and surviving examples are almost nonexistent, making this a truly rare item. Featuring a deep overlapping front with ten change buttons, the double-breasted design protects against coal, mud, and snow. Sleeves are finished with large “gauntlet cuffs,” and the railroader-style design includes three tack buttons for every two buttonholes. The coat is slightly longer than standard, with large inner pockets positioned low for practicality.
Complete Reproduction Series “HEADLIGHT”
HEADLIGHT was a brand of Larned, Carter & Co., founded in the early 1900s and produced through the 1960s. At a time when vertically integrated manufacturing—from weaving to sewing—was uncommon, the company’s in-house production reflected a deep commitment to quality and durability. As evidenced by its labels and advertising flashers, HEADLIGHT garments were widely worn by and supplied to railroad workers and engineers. Today, the brand remains highly regarded and continues to be sought after by discerning vintage collectors worldwide.
