All Belafonte garments are made in Japan, using premium materials and produced in facilities renowned for exceptional craftsmanship. The brand has firmly established itself as a standout name within the heritage and workwear scene.

Product Details:

Two of Belafonte’s most popular designs come together to create one of the most distinctive pairs of jeans on the market.

Crafted from a unique Sumimole (ink-dyed) cotton canvas, these jeans are designed to age beautifully, developing a rich and highly individual patina over time. Inspired by early workwear, the silhouette is straight, wide, and high-waisted, staying true to classic vintage proportions.

Authentic functional details include tool pockets, suspender buttons, and a buckle-back cinch, all reinforcing the garment’s rugged workwear heritage.

The Sumimole fabric is comparable to Belafonte’s well-known Doromole fabric. While Doromole uses a brown twill base dyed with mud, Sumimole starts from a neutral off-white twill and is dyed using traditional Japanese sumi ink.

Sumi ink is produced through a meticulous process involving burned pinewood soot mixed with animal glue—a craft that can take up to four years to complete.
