Originally developed more than a century ago for outdoor use, this distinctive Beach Cloth fabric is built using a two-layer construction: a cotton Russell-knit exterior and a wool-fleece interior reminiscent of a heavyweight sweatshirt. With over 70% of the fabric composed of densely brushed wool fleece, it offers impressive warmth and durability—qualities rarely found in knit-based materials.

The outer layer uses two different yarn colors and counts woven together to create the classic Brown’s Beach “salt and pepper” texture. This vest takes inspiration from high-neck styles of the 1920s and 1930s, retaining period-correct details such as U.S.-made DOT nipple buttons, original-style tape, and a traditional back cinch. The front pockets have been subtly shifted toward the center to more closely recreate the silhouette of the era.


Brown's Beach is realized and reproduced by Japanese denim masters Fullcount who obtained the license in 2010.

Founded in 1992 by Mikiharu Tsujita, Fullcount is one of the original members of Japan’s celebrated “Osaka Five” denim brands.
